Leo I, 457-474. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.43 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, circa 457-468. D N LEO PE-RPET AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Leo I facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman spearing a fallen foe, over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORI-A AVGGG Γ / CONOB Victory standing front, head to left, holding long jeweled cross in her right hand; in field to right, star. Depeyrot 93/1. RIC 605. Well struck and attractive. A few nicks and with a small dig on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
